When I Look At You was inspired in the days following my granddaughter Lilly’s birth. This lullaby, like several of the songs in this collection were simply and spontaneously sung when my usual songwriting practice is to sit at the piano and play as I write. When I did sit at the piano to further develop this piece I remembered the joy again of seeing the birth of my grandson, William and feeling him as I wrote the lyrics.
